Abstract
IR images are useful to detect night scenes and cloudy scenes because they make it possible to see targets without visible illumination. But it is difficult to improve the resolution of IR images due to the environment sensitivity of IR images and thermal noise. Many image enhancement techniques of IR images have been proposed including the conventional super resolution method. But they couldn´t get a satisfactory result due to poor image registration results by thick edges, one of characteristics of thermal images. Therefore the conventional super resolution method has been modified not to do image registration. The experimental results show that the modified method gives the better image resolution.
