Abstract
The authors investigate various aspects of the development of deductive database systems, which integrate logic into traditional relational database systems. The authors review the database language Datalog, a version of a logic programming language for deductive database systems. The efficiency issues of query processing in the context of two popular query processing methods, the magic-set method and the structural-analysis method, are discussed. SARP (structural approach to rule processing), a framework of deductive database systems based on structural analysis, is described
