Abstract
This paper features the importance in establishing an integrated information system (IIS) in order to connect and organize various power system automation and management systems, such as EMS, DMS, MIS, etc., which are independent and isolated of each other. New kinds of integrated method and technology of open communication and control architectures are proposed in EMS to communicate with other subsystems by means of the centralized control and management system (CCMS) in IIS. The standard TCP/IP protocol with some improved communication and control methods is used to support the information transmission between EMS and CCMS. The new integrated method and technology not only satisfy the requirements of EMS but also enhance the efficiency of IIS
