Abstract :
Wavelength conversion by cascaded difference frequency generation (cDFG) in a fully packaged Ti:PPLN (periodically poled lithium niobate) waveguide converter with an efficiency of -8 dB up to -3 dBm of converted output and simultaneous multichannel conversion without depletion has been demonstrated. A converted 40 Gbit/s RZ-channel has been transmitted error-free over 5×100 km of NZDSF (non-zero dispersion shifted fibre) without penalty.
