  • Abstract
Plasmonic metamaterials based on metal-dielectric nanostructures exhibit unique optical properties and find numerous applications in such diverse areas as optical communications, chemo- and bio-sensing, high-density data storage and many others. These properties can be tailored to specific applications and requirements by changing structural and dielectric parameters of the constituents. Here we discuss the design principles, modeling and applications of two types of plasmonic metamaterials based on plsamonic crystals and plasmonic nanorod arrays.
