Abstract :
An overview of the delta operator based design of 1-D and 2-D filters is presented. The delta operator approach offers better coefficient sensitivity compared to the z-domain approach when the filter is narrowband or when high sampling rates are involved. For 1-D filters, a ladder synthesis procedure is presented. For 2-D filters, an efficient optimization based design procedure utilizing symmetry is discussed.
