Planning CCS network penetration areas
Abstract :
The authors describe the methodology used to designate the stored program control (SPC) switches as signaling end points (SEPs) in a common channel signaling (CCS) network. The proposed methodology contains a scheme for identifying the SEPs in each signaling region according to the region´s potential and need for CCS network access. It estimates the number of equivalent SPC subscriber lines (ESSL) that will have access to the services requiring CCS capability for the network. It uses a heuristic approach to determine the SPC switch locations, both existing and planned, that match the number of total SEP subscriber lines and meet some preferential treatment criteria. Finally, using the methodology, a deployment plan is proposed for the SEPs in four planning phases of a case study
