Abstract :
Coordinated multipoint (CoMP) processing is regarded as an enabling technique in Long Term Evolution (LTE)-Advanced to improve both the cell average and cell-edge spectral efficiency (SE). In this paper, we propose a novel precoder design algorithm based on polar decomposition (PD) for non-coherent joint processing CoMP (NCJP-CoMP) in order to enhance the cell-edge performance, when considering the cost of the backhaul and signaling of the system. Compared with non-CoMP scheme and the QR decomposition (QRD) based NCJP-CoMP solution, the NCJP-CoMP scheme based on PD aided precoder is capable of reaping cell-edge SE gains of 10% and 3%, respectively.
