Abstract
The results presented in the paper refer to the correlation between the leakage current amplitude measured in the last half cycle before flashover and flashover voltage. The results permit one to define leakage current ranges where the possibility of flashover is very low. Based on these results, a procedure will be developed for prediction of different types of insulators behaviour under different pollution conditions. This procedure will be implemented in monitoring and alarm equipment used for defining the intervals of insulator maintenance for different pollution areas.
