Abstract :
The paper presents an experimental method to estimate the core losses dissipated in the magnetic components used in power switching supplies that operate in discontinuous and continuous asymmetrical mode with the network frequency modulation. Special workbenches are made to evaluate these core losses in different situations. That allows to obtain simple analytical formulae appropriate for an optimization process. This analytical model is integrated in a global optimization approach of a flyback converter in PFC mode. The optimization results are validated by experiments
