Abstract :
The interactive business information systems (IBIS) project is described, and future trends in system design and the components required for such systems are discussed. The author examines the capabilities of such new components and their feasibilities in terms of the present state of the art and future potential capability as well as some new high technology such as superconductivity and biodevices. The author also briefly describes the highly interactive optical visual information system (Hi-OVIS) experiment, which is the first major interactive fiber-optic video information system. IBIS (Advanced Hi-OVIS) is a digital interactive optical visual information system which has been designed and developed with the same intent as that of Hi-OVIS
