Abstract :
In this paper, a remote environmental monitoring system with a simple network management protocol (SNMP) is developed. The development process is integrated based on the standard unified modeling language (UML) and the verifiable Petri-net model. Thus, the dynamic behavior of the remote monitoring system can be analyzed by using Petri-net theory. Finally, the system can be implemented by using Java. A case study of an environmental monitoring system for the mobile switching center (MSC) is provided to illustrate the design approach.
