Abstract :
This contribution deals with a new configuration of main traction converter for locomotives containing a medium-frequency transformer. The main emphasis is given on the proposed control of the converters around the medium-frequency transformer which transmits power using 400-Hz square-wave voltage. This paper describes designed control algorithms and presents theoretical conclusions, which are verified by experiments performed on designed laboratory prototype of rated power of 12 kW.
