Abstract
The performance behavior of L -diversity, slow FH/DPSK (frequency-hopping/differential-phase-shift-keying) data detectors in the presence of partial band noise jamming is presented. Two nonlinear combining schemes, namely the predemodulation and postdemodulation soft-decision diversity combiners, are examined. The former is found to render a better cutoff rate performance. This diversity combiner is then further investigated under the constant data rate and constant symbol energy criteria. It is concluded that, for bit-error probability of 10 -5, 3.2 and 12.2 dB are gained by using the rate one-half, constraint length seven (7, 1/2) convolutional code with the dual-diversity constant data rate option and the 16-diversity constant symbol energy option, respectively
