Abstract
We develop optimal design methods of polarimetric radar signals that improve the estimation accuracy of the target parameters. A weighted sum of the Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) of the parameters of interest is used as the cost function of the optimization. We employ an array of electromagnetic vector sensors to fully recover the polarization information from the target returns. Simulation examples illustrate the improved system performance
