Abstract :
SIMNON is one of most commonly used simulation softwares. It features state space representation for dynamic systems, hybrid linear and nonlinear simulation, and interactive graphics. These are convenient for power electronics simulation especially for induction motor drives. In the paper state equations describing dq-equivalent circuits at a synchronously rotating reference frame are derived. The motor is simulated independently to show steady-state and dynamic characteristics and to provide the initial condition for the inverter speed control system. Two different inverter topologies, square-wave and pulsewidth modulation, are used for the complete system study. The performance, including output harmonics and torque pulsations of different inverter drives, is evaluated according to simulation results
