Abstract
This paper presents a high-frequency class-D converter driving with feedback capacitors for electrodeless fluorescent lamps (EFLs). The proposed converter is a self-oscillating type and it uses the feedback capacitors to supply the gate voltage to the switching devices via phase angle adjustment. Both shoot-through current is prevented and EFL input power is maintained if the EFL conditions are varied, for instance, changes in DC voltage. The converter was evaluated for a conventional EFL and a coil-less type choke which uses an exciting coil instead of a choke coil. We confirmed that the EFL operated steadily and the temperature of the MOSFET could be kept below 55/spl deg/C for both cases.
