Abstract :
We describe a technique for the measurement of the birefringence spatial distribution in a single-mode optical fibre with a resolution of 1 meter. This technique is based on a polarization-OTDR set-up using a rotary linear polariser. We report results performed on different types of fibres: step-index, dispersion shifted and dispersion compensating fibres.
