Abstract
Summary form only given, substantially as follows. This paper discusses the emergent organizations of multiple agents for task processing problems. Especially, we focus on the properties of persistence influencing the organizing ability. As such a type of organizing problem, we introduce the multiple monkey banana problem. The problem is posed as the modification of the original monkey banana problem. Each monkey as an agent tries to ride on the other monkeys to take the above banana, Namely, the agents have to build the organizations. Obviously, the agents have to solve the problem tightly coupled each other. The agents meet several inappropriate situations that include deadlock states. Thus the agents may need not only to behave autonomously according to the sensing of the environment but also, we suppose, to possess the persistence for getting the chances to escape inappropriate situations. To realize the persistence in the action selection mechanism, we investigate the fatigue parameters in the behavior network. Owing to the keeping of memorized inputs, the activities in the nodes are expected to keep persistence. This basic mechanism is embedded in the proposed hierarchical behavior network. Under the introduced problem, we show the effects of the fatigue parameters concerned on the persistence of the emergent organizational behaviors.
