Abstract
The application of the use of the 10 kΩ standard resistor as a basic reference to scale nominal resistance values from 1 Ω to 10 kΩ is investigated. The actual values of the standard resistors obtained by scaling down from the 10 kΩ resistors are in good agreement with their values when obtained by direct intercomparisons with the NIS reference group of 1 Ω. The assigned ±0.12 ppm uncertainty when using the 10 kΩ to scale the 1 Ω level is only twice that for tile direct intercomparisons. A resistance scaling technique to scale nominal standards from the 10 kΩ down to 1 Ω, with uncertainty less than ±0.1 ppm is described. In this technique the uncertainties at each level are obtained from tile weighted mean of three different measurements
