Abstract :
Electroencephalogram signals (EEG), also known as brainwaves, provide rich information about the brain processes, once that they result from the electrical activity of millions of neurons beneath the skull. By finding correlation between EEG patterns and certain brain processes, such as thought, it is possible to design an intelligent system that is able to translate the EEG information into computer commands. This research investigates this possibility by introducing the design of a portable EEG data acquisition system (to be connected to the printer parallel port of a PC computer) and developing a new neural network to classify signals.
