Abstract :
In this paper we derive the Bit Error Probability (BEP) of cooperative systems using Decode and Forward (DF) relaying over Rayleigh fading channels. Two system models are studied: multihop single branch relaying and multibranch multihop relaying. Novel exact expressions are derived for both the Moment Generation Function (MGF) and the Probability Density Function (PDF) of the SNR at the destination. The BEP expression is obtained using these theoretical results for M-QAM modulations. Simple asymptotic expressions of the BEP are also derived. Numerical results and computer simulations are compared to verify the accuracy of the derived expressions.
