Abstract :
A boost converter cascaded a buck converter based on the digital signal processor (DSP) is presented herein and used to provide various voltages for different operating speeds of the switched reluctance motor (SRM), so as to improve the power factor of the motor drive as well as the torque generation capability of the SRM. In design of such a two-stage converter, the first power stage constructed by a boost converter is controlled by the current average mode with power factor correction (PFC), whereas the second power stage established by a buck converter is controlled by the voltage mode. Besides, the sampling technique and startup of this converter are taken into account. In this paper, the feasibility of the proposed control strategy is demonstrated by some experimental results.
