Abstract
The “Enterprise” segment is becoming a popular Location Based Service (LBS) application area, and is the topic of this paper. GPS-based devices have been widely used in this segment for Field Force Tracking. These devices are costly and can be tampered with. Depending on the number of such devices that need to be installed by an Enterprise, this shall result in significant Capital Expenditure (CAPEX). In most such scenarios, a high degree of accuracy that GPS offers is not required. This paper discusses an innovative approach with legacy signaling and contemporary web technologies to use the Telco´s signaling and IT networks to provide cost-effective and acceptable field-force tracking to the Enterprise.
