  • Abstract
Image fusion is an important tool in remote sensing, as many earth observation satellites provide both high-resolution panchromatic and low-resolution multispectral images. To date, many image fusion techniques have been developed. However, most available algorithms produce color distortion in the fused or sharpened IKONOS and QuickBird images. In this paper, we propose a new pansharpening approach that integrates the advantage of both the induction and correspondence analysis techniques to reduce the color distortion of IKONOS and QuickBird fusion results. Comparison among the proposed technique and some existing methods has been performed. Visual and quantitative analyses prove that our presented integration is promising and it does significantly improve the fusion quality compared to these existing methods.
