Abstract :
This paper investigates the current literature concerning intelligent agent technology (IA) for the Internet and intelligent shopping agent, together with the latest agent technology and published works about knowledge base (KB) development and problem-solving methods for assisting IAs. Issues concerning and challenges to the development of a KB for an intelligent shopping agent are outlined. The notion of ontology which is applied to model human knowledge is examined. This paper aims at providing a theoretical background for improving the intelligence level of online shopping agents.
