Abstract :
In this paper, we will investigate the synchronization behavior of a group of self-propelled individuals moving in the plane with variable speed, where the speed of each agent depends on the polarization order of its neighbors in a power-law manner. In fact, this model is inspired by the experimental data from schooling fish. Under the random framework, we will provide sufficient conditions for synchronization of the model which is imposed on the maximum speed and the neighborhood radius only. We find that the maximum speed that the agents are allowed to be is larger than that of the Vicsek model, where all agents move with the same speed.
