Abstract :
In this paper, we present a new error metric descriptor based on the QEM algorithm to simplify the geometry model with texture. The descriptor takes weight of curvature of the vertex as one of the influential factor. Also, the descriptor takes into account the visual importance of each edge which is attached to the model through edge detection algorithm of image processing. In this way, the simplification can make the sharp-simplified model keep a similar appearance and shape feature. Meanwhile, for the descriptor is extended from the QEM error metric and can also be acquired with its matrix computing, the algorithm is with good speed and high performance.
