Abstract :
A new method, using fractal dimension of silt floc pores to study the settling performance of silt floc, was put forward. Firstly, the fractal characteristics of silt floc pores were descried qualitatively by the software of image-pro plus6.0, which was taken from Shahu Lake in Wuhan city. Secondly, two-dimensional fractal dimension of silt floc pores was calculated by image analysis. At last, the settling velocity of silt floc was estimated by the fractal dimension of silt floc pores, which compared with the traditional method. The conclusion given in this paper showed that porosity of silt floc may be reflected by the fractal properties, and the settling velocity of silt floc reduced with the fractal dimension of silt floc pores increasing.
