Abstract
Theoretical analysis is made on the standard site method in terms of antenna impedance matrices. It is concluded that the SSM is not applicable to many antennas having height-dependent antenna factors. Some experiments are conducted with dipole antennas for verification of our conclusions. In addition, an improved calibration method is proposed as an alternative to the existing SSM. The new method can give antenna factors much accurately
