Abstract
Summary Form only given, as follows. Infinitely long plasmas with periodic density variations have been reported to present forbidden bands of frequencies in both the plasma wave and electromagnetic wave dispersion relations. These forbidden bands are the result of constructive Bragg reflections from the various plasma layers one period apart. The authors discuss the possibility of using such forbidden bands of frequencies to design efficient microwave plasma mirrors of variable reflectivity. A possible design has been developed.<>
