Abstract
A performance of roto-dynamic wind driven pump under normal operating conditions were estimated based on the mathematical model proposed by Mathew and Pandey for the integrated out put of wind-driven roto-dynamic pumps. Specifications of roto-dynamic and piston pumps are considered for the performance simulation under Jordanian climate conditions. The model which is applied to the roto-dynamic pumps give a better match with wind rotor for different levels of the discharge and pump heads. It has been found that the roto-dynamic wind driven pumps have a high performance compared with the other types of the pumps. The present work also investigated the effects of the specific speed, specific diameter ratios and the gear ratio on the size of the pump to be selected.
