Abstract :
The plane division (PD)-Maximum Power Point Tracking method can dramatically reduce the approaching time to the maximum power point (MPP). The PD function divides the current-voltage (I-V) plane into two domains; thus, one includes MPP and the other one doesnpsilat. Skipping the no-MPP domain, the operating point quickly approaches the MPP. So far, a single linear function, a square root function, and a combination of linear functions have been proposed as the PD function. In this paper, those PD functions are strictly compared based on the experimentally measured approaching time under the same I-V characteristics with a PV array simulator.
