Abstract :
In this paper, we describe the coupled opto-electronic oscillator (COEO) that simultaneous generates both low-jitter optical pulses and low phase noise microwave signal. It has been shown that the mode-locked laser has a microwave transfer property similar to that of a high-Q microwave resonator, which is responsible for the ultra-low noise achieved in the COEO system.
