Title :
An orientation for production quality networks

Abstract :
An overview is presented of the issues that need to be considered in configuring production-level quality networks. It is noted that network quality almost has to be tailored into the infrastructure based on standard interfaces, alternate routing functionality, and consistent software, and an attempt is made to define a network quality index based on the imprecise definition of factors such as connectivity and interoperability. It is shown that quality index deterioration is introduced by network elements such as bridges and routers, even though their presence is essential to provide the necessary communications functionality
