  • Abstract
This paper presents a systematic study of the thermal activation of coal-gangue and factors that influence this process under different conditions. Our samples were tested and analyzed using Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Inductive Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES), Magic Angle Spin Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (MAS NMR), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Results indicate that the degree of coal-gangue activation varies with variations in the phase structure and coordination of aluminum at different temperatures. Coal-gangue activation is also found to be impacted by such factors as particle diameter, detention time, and cooling mode.
