Thai Certainty Verbal Meaning Measuring Comparison across Countries and Languages

This study aimed to measure the certainty level of Thai certainty verbal meaning and build certainty scales, and to compare the certainty level of certainty verbal in Thai, English, German, and Japanese languages. Research data was collected using interactive online surveys. The Thai participants were asked to rate popular Thai verbal expressions on a certainty scale. The Thai expressions were translated into English, German, and Japanese and rated by the participants of these languages. The survey provided the ability to help the participants compare and decide their level of certainty for each verbal. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and Multidimensional Scale (MDS) methodology. The study presented Thai verbal-numerical certainty scales. The results from mean differences found that the usage of certainty verbal (probably agree, probably disagree, tend to disagree, disagree, and completely disagree) in Thai were significantly different from English, German, and Japanese.
