Abstract :
In this paper, the authors use temporal imaging concepts in building the novel instrumentation for optical signal processing. Two temporal imaging devices are used, time-lenses and time-prisms. For one instrument, the authors use a time-lens to build a multiwavelength pulse generator ideal for WDM parallel processing that eliminates the need for mode-locking or nonlinear spectrum generation used in current similar sampling instruments. In another device, the authors use a time-prism pair to achieve a programmable ultrafast optical delay line.
