Abstract :
In this paper, a fusion scheme is proposed for multispectral (MS) and hyperspectral (HS) image fusion. The scheme works in 3D wavelet domain and adopts different fusion strategies for different sub-blocks. We discuss two types of 3D wavelet transform (3D-IDWT and HSDWT) for MS/HS image analysis and apply them in the proposed fusion scheme. The proposed fusion scheme is also compared with its counterpart in 2D wavelet domain by evaluating their performance in simulated experiments. The experimental results denote that 3D wavelet based MS and HS image fusion approaches outperform the one based on 2D wavelet. This improvement can be attributed to an additional scale-specific analysis in spectral domain.
