Abstract :
Higher luminance efficacy, faster response, longer operation life, wider color gamut and environmental issues makes RGB LED backlight driving system suitable for high end LCD applications. In this paper, a RGB backlight driving system for LCD panels with individual area control is proposed. Using the topology proposed in this paper, the backlight can be divided into 96 individual areas, and can easily be expanded to higher number of areas. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed system, a developed prototype will be presented and experiments will be carried out. According to the experimental results, the power conversion efficiency is 90 % and individual area control can be achieved.
