Abstract
The main purpose of this paper is to shorten the encoding time of the stereoscopic video with guaranteed encoding quality. Based on the analysis of 3D/2D video encoding Motion Estimate Search Algorithm, this paper proposes a method to introduce S-UMHexagon (Simple UMHexagon) Search Algorithm to H.264 stereoscopic video encoding test model JMVC (Joint Multiview Video Coding). The experimental results indicate that the method proposed shortened the total video encoding time by 25% with favorable image distortion and bit rate performance. Thus the video encoding time is remarkably shortened.
