Abstract
The development of the power multilevel converter for wind turbine applications with variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) power systems is presented. The harmonic analysis of the AC output voltage is performed, and the optimum parameters are determined. The main performance characteristics of the multilevel converter are discussed. The theoretical results are verified on the prototype rated at 150 kW. The test results confirm the considered converter performance capability as well as prove the correctness of the concept for its use in the power net.
