Abstract :
A novel signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) estimation algorithm for QAM signals in the additive Gaussian white noise channel (AWGN) is presented. Considering the real and imaginary components (I/Q) of QAM signals respectively, a new SNR estimator based on signal envelop is derived. The performance of our estimator is analyzed and compared with the other estimation methods. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve higher estimation precision and lower computation complexity even the true SNR is negative.
