Abstract :
We present the design and the experimental verification of a stabilized 200 MHz single-bit fifth-order continuous-time delta-sigma modulator. The integrated circuit is developed in a 0.35 μm triple-metal double-poly CMOS process and includes both modulator and nonlinear feedback controller operating from a 3.0 V supply. Our controller architecture, valid for loop filters of any finite order, guarantees stability under mild conditions and is based on advanced switching concepts derived from variable-structure theory. Theoretical, simulation and experimental results are provided.
