Abstract
The authors describe a system (called Epic Microversatrip) that integrates metering, protection (direct acting breaker trips or relaying), monitoring, and fault analysis in electrical switchgear. With this system not only can individual conventional meters, instruments, discrete transducers, and protective relays be replaced, but added functions can be provided. The total system then provides an economical alternative for determining the pulse of the electrical power distribution system
