Abstract
A wide range of power system simulators and relay test sets are now available for the testing of protection relays. The vast majority of these are designed for testing an individual relay, very few are designed for testing a complete protection and control scheme. The simulator described in this paper is suitable for the comprehensive testing of both integrated and coordinated protection and control schemes and individual relays and control equipment. The simulator can also be used for training engineers and students on the application and operation of protection and control equipment. A prototype version of this simulator was installed in 1994 at the National Grid (NGC) Training Centre in Eakring, Nottinghamshire
