Abstract :
Unequal error protection applies different forward error correction to different parts of video stream according to their different importance. Traditionally, the expected decoder distortion is used to evaluate the importance of each part in the bitstream. However, it considers only the source coding distortion and the channel distortion propagated from the previous frames. In this paper, a new unequal error protection method is given which further considers the impact of the error propagation to the following frames. This enhances the overall robustness of video data against the channel error. Experimental results show that our method presents quality improvement when compared with conventional one.
