Abstract :
In this paper, a novel dual-band design of a coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed monopole antenna with slots on the radiating patch is proposed. The parametric study is performed to understand the characteristics of the proposed antenna. The pair of slots is incorporated along the edges of the rectangle shaped structure to excite three resonant modes. Prototypes of the proposed antenna have been designed and constructed. The simulation results shows that antenna operates in two wide frequency bands from 3.404 GHz to 3.804 GHz and 5.032 GHz to 5.932 GHz covering wireless local area network (WLAN) and Worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) bands. The maximum gain of the proposed antenna is 3.31 dBi at 3.66 GHz in the lower band and 4.39 dBi at 5.124 GHz in the higher band.
