Mobile Interface for Domain Specific Machine Translation Using Short Messaging Service

Machine aided translation system available on Web may certainly be proved to be more useful if become available on mobile phone with a different interface to provide interpersonal, domain specific communication across language barrier. Short message service which is easier, faster, reliable and available in all networks can be used as a method of communication with the server to facilitate machine translation on mobile phone. This paper discusses issues in development of such an application and also reports an experiment on "translation service" which translates English sentences of tourist\´s domain into Hindi on mobile phone using short messaging service on binary runtime environment for wireless (BREW) emulator
