Abstract :
The architecture of a tool for synthesizing electrical networks by using an expert system is outlined. The advantages of the method are discussed in comparison with traditional ones. The steps through which the method develops are illustrated, and a sketch of a knowledge base implemented for power-supply circuit synthesis is reported together with a synthesis example. The method has been implemented successfully for the synthesis of DC power supply networks.<>
